I am a participating artist in A4 for A4 gallery Contemporary Asian Art Gallery 6-9 Nov 2014
This work of art was made as a participating artist in A4 for A4 gallery and is a Tribute to my friend Belinda’s brother Guy who tragically died as a teenager. It is about how we carry our loved ones memories with us through life. Belinda now lives in Hong Kong and can be seen walking in the background on a Hong Kong street. The figures in the foreground are from an old black and white photograph taken when Belinda and Guy were young children.
The older figures are given new life with digital enhancements and fresh paint. If you look closely at the background many of its features have also been given new life with the addition of fabrics, textures and patterns.
I create works of art, which celebrate the lives of people who have died incorporating significant text, photographs, objects, fabrics and mementoes. I make art about people, place and narrative. I am interested in the depth of human emotion and in celebrating people and events. It is part of being human to mark milestones, memories and transitions physically and symbolically.
